PROFIL

PROFIL

Prophylaxis against the grapevine’s main cryptogamic diseases

The project aims to remove from the plot every vegetal organ hosting the main pathogens’ winter conservation devices.

A prototype will be created; protocols and methods will be proposed to measure the impact prophylaxis has on the development through time of the inoculum on the plot, the epidemic’s dynamics and the induced effect on the varieties’ physiology.

The goals of PROFIL are:

  • To develop ecological ways to extract the infected organs and compost them to wipe out the bioagressors’ winter conservation form before bringing this organic matter back on the plot
  • To assess this method’s impact on the development of the soil’s inoculum stock
  • To study the beginning and the development of epidemics
  • To study the defoliated vine stocks’ physiology and the quality of the harvest

This new prophylaxis will be integrated into the global strategies of treatment in viticulture to assess the possible synergies with other alternatives aiming to decrease the use of pesticides, with the goal of transferring these methods to the winegrowing industry.
